Definition

A pyramid is a solid object with a polygonal base and triangular faces that converge at a single point.

Description

Pyramids are a vital component of geometry, exhibiting unique properties associated with their height and base shape. The volume of a pyramid can be calculated using the formula

V= 1/3 B⋅h

where B is the area of the base and h is the height. Pyramids are often seen in architecture—for example, the Great Pyramid of Giza—highlighting their significance in historical and mathematical contexts as symbols of stability and strength.

Some pyramids are built from rectangular prism layers.
